2000 REUNION: LESLO DU PREEZ:

LESLO (LES) DU PREEZ  was our liaison person at Parow High School:  I repeat what I said on the Saturday evening: without his assistance, the reunion could NOT have taken place!!

A brief biography:  Les matriculated at JJ du Preez end of 1967.  He qualified with a B Com SOD from Stellenbosch University and taught at "Hoër Volkskool", Graafff Reinet from 1974 to 1978.  In 1979, he joined the staff of JJ du Preez where he remained until it closed at the end of 1991.  He transferred over to what then became the Parow High School.  Les was the main force behind the large "closing down" reunion held at the old school at the end of 1991.

Thankfully, he was able to rescue a number of boxes of old JJ du Preez "stuff" but a lot of other "stuff" was thrown away.  So, I suppose Les could be considered the "official" PDHS-JJ du Preez High School "Archivist".

When I started "searching" for names for all those connected with the school during the years 1956 to 1960 inclusive, it was Les who came to the rescue in allowing me complete access to the JJ du Preez "Archives" whenever I needed it.

Although in the end many of them never made it to the Photo Display (in the hall on the Saturday evening), I was also able to borrow literally hundreds of photos many of which I had had copied.

And, of course, Les was often the liaison when the Reunion committee negotiated with the Principal, Willem Smit.  So Les:  from all who were involved in Reunion 2000 - a BIG THANK YOU!!
