A VERY BRIEF SCHOOL HISTORY:
The school started officially on 4th February 1922 and was first known as the "Parow Secondary School" then later "Parow and Districts High School" (PDHS).
In 1953 the school committee decided to change the name of the school to "JJ du Preez High School" in honour of Mr JJ "Japie" du Preez who had been Principal from 1931 to 1953.
In 1967 the school badge was changed again and that was the badge in force when the school doors were closed for the last time at the Connaught Road premises at the end of the last term for 1991.
With effect from 1st January 1992 it moved to the premises of the then-Tygerberg Commercial School in Toner street, the two schools having been merged to form Parow High School. The old premises then changed to being the home Parow Campus of Tygerberg College.. A few years later it became part of the Northlink College group.
Below is a copy of an article which appeared in the "Cape Times" newspaper of Wednesday 20th August 1991, announcing the merger of the two schools.
