2000 REUNION: GENERAL COMMENTS AND SOME "THANKS":

It didn't just happen!!  A HUGE thank you to ORGANISING COMMITTEE members Henny Karreman, Sanettha Digue, Dolores Baldi, Margaret Kitley (all '60) for the TREMENDOUS efforts before, during and after the events!!!

At the two evening functions they were also assisted by the Caterers, and their assistants: thank you Bernice and Wilmien for such superb catering for the Friday and Saturday evenings!!

Thanks also to John Griessen ('60) who assisted on the Saturday afternoon.

No photos can really do justice to these efforts, but, I've included some photos in the Photo Gallery showing something of the layout, decorations and food tables in the Hall for the Saturday evening function.

Oh yes - photos!!  MANY thanks to our in-house "official photographer", Dolores Reitz (Baldi, '60).  I'm sure at times during the photo sessions and during the weeks that followed (as she worked so hard to sort out, process and despatch the many orders she'd received) she must have felt like tearing her hair out!!.  We've learned one lesson here - next time hire an "outsider" to do the "official" photos - this will give Dolores a chance to enjoy herself fully next time!!  Dolores - thank you SO much!!  Thank you also for allowing me to publish your photos on this web site!!

Thanks also to Elsa Oliver (van Antwerpen, '56) and Hester van der Merwe (de Villiers, '60), who so kindly also provided me with photos that they took at the functions and also allowed me to publish these on the web site.

Although her playing was not as much in demand as we had anticipated, many thanks also to our Saturday guest keyboard player, Pat Egan for all her preparation before the evening and for giving of her time to be with us that evening and so enabling us to "warble" at least a few notes with accompaniment!!.

A word of thanks to the Principal of Parow High, Willem Smit, for allowing us the use of the premises for our reunion.

Last, but defnitely not least - thank you to all those who by their presence ensured the success of the weekend.

Judging by the feedback received at the two evening functions alone, the members of the Organising Committee can be very proud of their efforts.  Add to that the subsequent feedback I received (see examples on separate page) and one is left with the distinct impression that, with few exceptions, a most enjoyable time was had by all who attended.
